How do I know?
I've been where you are. I've felt the "There's gotta be more."

I've felt the "I know I have an amazing life BUT..."
I've felt the "I crave something I can't seem to find or figure out."
I've even felt the hopeless dread "Something has *%$&ing got to change!"

My friends and family will tell you I've always been a FREE SPIRIT! but I will tell you when it looked like I was most free— living in the big & beautiful city of Chicago; going to an amazing art school; moving to Denver to get a Ph.D. in a subject I LOVE; traveling all around this glorious earth— I felt trapped, unfulfilled and very disconnected from my my deeper why.

You take yourself with you... so, I bought all the self-help books a girl could buy. I devoured every page. I meditated. Prayed. Drank sugarless green juice and honeyless green tea. I soaked with crystals in my bathwater. Hit the yoga mat. Hired a shaman. As I was doing all this "inner self-help searching" I realized, THIS: what all the spiritual teachers are encouraging me to do, is what poetry (my Great love, my deepest study) teaches best. I already know how to do this, I just needed to make my life, my art.

Through a series of poetic principles, spiritual practices, & creative prompts you will discover the daily magic of poetic living and the meaningful satisfaction poetry can bring to your life.

This is not a traditional "poetry class" — Beauty, Flow, & Soul is a space to unite your spiritual and creative essence into one powerful force of wellbeing. We are learning to make poetry off the page inside your family, relationships, surroundings, workplace, embodiment and inner landscapes.

WEEK ONE

WHY YOU WANT MORE BEAUTY, FLOW, AND SOUL

What is a poetic life? How would you feel? What would you make? To get started we will discover why Beauty, Flow, & Soul creates the spiritual recipe to fuel your deepest happiness.

Get ready for poetry like it's never been taught before! I'll be sharing my favorite way to forget everything you learned about poetry in school. Why poetic amnesia is important (at least temporarily). Plus, how to make the leap from reading poetry on-the-page to living poetry off-the-page!

Ever made an incredible life change and then quickly fell off the wagon? This week, you will discover the poetic approach to making lasting change stick, FOR GOOD. I know these 9 weeks of Beauty, Flow, & Soul can create a life-changing transformation for you!

WEEK TWO

POETIC BEAUTY INTRODUCTION
& POETIC PRINCIPLE 1

BEAUTY! This week we will be diving deep into beauty's essence to uncover the rich depth and divinity in our lives. Beauty is so much more than we've chalked it up to be. RAW, UNADULTERATED, POETIC BEAUTY ... You're going to live for it!

Principle No. 1 comes from poet Emily Dickinson. This week we will be unlocking beauty in the strangest places and the simplest too. It might be that we literally step out the same door into the same world, but now it's glimmering — intensely beautiful to our soul.

Our spiritual-poetic practice this week will include discovering the base of our beauty through the practice of meditation.

WEEK THREE

POETIC BEAUTY CONTINUED...
POETIC PRINCIPLES 2 & 3

Principle No. 2 comes from poet Wallace Stevens. This week we will be tapping into nature, creative nature. Why is a flower so incredibly beautiful? We will cross-pollinate our human limits with our soul. We will, as the poet Rumi said, Die while we are alive.

Principle No. 3 delves into George Oppen's vision for beauty. Beauty plays an essential role in all art-making especially when it comes to our individual lives. It's time you get in on the gorgeous. I will be teaching how to become a beauty-beaming conduit.

This week our spiritual-poetic practices will include an exploration the fragile, fading beauty in the Japanese art of Wabi Sabi. Plus a call to build our own personal "Ars Poetica" an aesthetic by which we live our lives.

WEEK FOUR

POETIC FLOW INTRODUCTION
& POETIC PRINCIPLE 4

It's time for poetic FLOW! This week we will introduce ourselves to the concepts and benefits of 'flow state.' Now touted by science as the key to extraordinary human performance & artistic genius, poets have been dipping into this magic long before Jesus ever walked this earth.

Poetic Principle No. 4 will redefine the way you conceive identity. Poets W.B. Yeats helps expand the consciousness of your poetic flow.

This week's spiritual-poetic practice will be an experimentation of science's latest and greatest on re-wiring the neuron patterns in our brain! Is it possible we can change our experience of the past & affect the possibilities of our future? Poetry and Science both say YES.

WEEK FIVE

POETIC FLOW CONTINUED ...
POETIC PRINCIPLES 5 & 6

Principle No. 5 reveals mystical and ancient wisdom from the Persian poet Rumi & Lorinee Neidecker. Tapping the intuitive body is an essential skill to harness upon entering the stream of spiritual flow. You will never make creative decisions the same way again!

Principle No. 6 explores the poet's secret skill for focusing attention. You've heard the importance of bringing increased awareness and presence to your daily life. But, if you're like most people, you haven't exactly figured out how to maintain presence with daily consistency. Poet Robert Creeley offers a fresh rhythm-based focus to help make centered living your reality.

Spiritual-poetic practices include a walking-meditation inspired by poet Frank O'Hara and my all-time favorite emotional intelligence exercise I only share with my private clients.

WEEK SIX

POETIC SOUL INTRODUCTION
& POETIC PRINCIPLE 7

Oh SOUL! This week I take you on the best journey of all, unveiling the mysterious and eternal space of the soul, articulated by the finest poets.

Principle No. 7 — a Shakespearean gem in my opinion — holds immense love for you. A principle close to my heart (I read it when I married my baby sister). You will find sweet eternity in this one!

This week the spiritual-poetic practice includes a ritual I practice whenever I need to find the strength to alter something in my life for the better. I am confident it will provide the same releasing peace for you.

WEEK SEVEN

POETIC SOUL CONTINUED ...
POETIC PRINCIPLES 8 & 9

Principle No. 8 by Walt Whitman helps us reconcile extreme opposites in the world. The deception of duality is solved at the level of the soul. Love and Hate. Sickness and Health. Life and Death. I will teach you how to use these contradictions to create more of what you seek.

The final poetic principle will leave you bewildered, astonished, and quieted into awe. Principle No. 9 has been channeled many ways, by many poets. I will be sharing the soul's ultimate place in a poetic life using wisdom from Maya Angelou, Fanny Howe, and William Carlos Williams. This is one you don't want to miss!

Our final spiritual-poetic practice will include an in-depth look at creativity's necessity and benefits in a life full of Beauty, Flow, and Soul. This includes a new idea-generating visualization taught by me!

WEEK EIGHT

WORKING THE PRINCIPLES TOGETHER
YOUR BEST POETIC LIFE

Now you have 9 Poetic Principles and spiritual practices you can use to create the life you love. What do you do next? I will be sharing exactly how I combine these teachings to enhance, guide, and light my life.

This week you will also learn how to determine your own unique style of Beauty, Flow, & Soul. You will be finishing up that Ars Poetica!

WEEK NINE

WRAP-UP NIGHT + FINAL Q&A WITH EMILY

This last night is designed to be both a celebration and ceremony to your new poetic life! I will be reading some of my favorite poems, sharing a few more tips and tricks, and answering any burning questions you have left!
